First off, this is NOT me in the photo. However, I did make the majority of the costume and it is a piece I am especially proud of. This is my boyfriend as D, he did a wonderful job of playing the part of this character. We couldn't bring the sword with us across the US to Fanime, so he had to be a bit more imaginative with poses. The photo was taken by Darkain Multimedia, who deserve so much credit for this beautiful shot and helping to bring D to life. I spent roughly three months on this costume, everything was made by me from the bodysuit to the belts. I had Chris help with the shoulder pauldrons, sword (not shown sadly), and sewing the leather hat brim, a chore that is a bit tough for a weak woman like me! I'll be sure to post another photo that shows the detail on the back of the cape, I spent a lot of time on the applique triangles back there so they do deserve a look. If you have any questions about this costume please do not hesitate to ask!
Also, this costume was based mostly off of the manga art by Saiko Takaki - highly recommended reading to fans of VHD, as the manga adheres very closely to the original novels, moreso than the first movie did to the first novel and the second did to the third novel. I also threw in some of my own details, based on what you see often in the Amano art (beaded necklaces, triangle theme on the cape, etc). We hope to add more to this costume eventually, as well.
