This is a costume I've wanted to make for years, but always was a bit afraid to tackle it. Easy to make, but a difficult character to pull off. Metroid for the NES was my first Metroid game, and only Super Metroid beats it out for my favorite game in the franchise. I still remember being little and watching my brother play it, and discovering during the ending that the hero of the story was in fact a female and it blew me away! So it was great to finally cosplay a character that is so nostalgic to me. I really love cosplaying from my childhood favorites and this is no exception. Plus, the Justin Bailey hack code version gets so little love when compared to Zero / other suits in the series.
I wanted to give this costume an 80s vibe, and while I was on the fence about the metallic spandex at first, I rather like how it turned out in reality. I used this fabric for the main bodysuit and boot covers. I used a stretch knit for the boot details that matched my wig, which is an Arda wig in Mako green. Ferari I think? The arm cannon is a modified toy cannon and has a grip on the inside so it's easy to hold and comfy.
The photos on the side were taken for a levitation project, and the ones in the middle are actually stills taken from a film project. All photography done by Gapple Photos, whose work I adore!
